Given my current workload and my new need to spend three hours every night putting a two year old to bed over and over and over again, I am going to suspend the daily romp through the Minnesota blogosphere. There just isn't enough time in the day to effectively mock and ridicule the excellent blogs throughout the state.

However, I will be doing a weekly romp through the Minnesota blogosphere beginning this Saturday. My hope is that I can continue to provide the snark once every week.

Comments on this change are welcome from all 6 people who actually read this crap!

The special Captain Obvious Award for today goes to our outgoing President. Congratulations, because it only took you five years longer than the average 5th grader to realize that declaring something completed before it actually is completed would be a great idea. Could it be that George has been using every synapse possible over the last five years to come to this conclusion thereby allowing all other issues to be ignored? It seems like a newly plausible conclusion...

[Photo from TIME Quote of the Day]

On to the daily romp:

Today must have been some sort of Michael Brodkorb discussion day today. Did so few important things happen today that we have been reduced to examining the life of a smear monger?

Some guy wants to send the incoming President a letter to ensure that immigration enforcement is humane and people are not mistreated during this process. The response from Leo Pusateri? Damn you liberals, why don't you hate more!

Are you telling me that sometimes it is the employer who is intimidating their workers and not those dastardly unions? I couldn't possibly believe that because employers by their very nature are beacons of light with nary a fault or flaw.

Of course you are going to miss HIM. Who doesn't love endless war, economic disaster, illegal spying, botched natural disaster responses, and torture?

That Mitch Berg is so clever making fun of possible flooding in the Red River Valley. What a HOOT? As I recall, when my parents and I set to work gutting our basement and were living out of a trailer that we giggled about it every day. I also recall a Republican Governor at the time who was too busy worrying about spear fishing on Mille Lacs Lake to give a damn about portions of his state being devastated. You stay classy, Mitch...

Jeff Rosenberg wants Margaret Anderson Kelliher to single handedly wrestle Marty Seifert. Is that really a fair contest?

ALERT! Dick Day is a cyborg. Not to worry though, because any cyborg that cannot beat the likes of Brian Davis cannot be too dangerous.

Why are the Concerned Women For America trying to get us all to engage in a three way?

Aaron Brown wants you to vote on what to call those strange creatures that come from the forbidden lands of Northeastern Minnesota. I vote for the Communist Coalition and would like to remind them that they are missing a member from the Becker area.

Frankly, I don't think anybody cares why you keep questioning the recount.

Don't you just love it when conservatives wonder why they cannot win elections in Minnesota and then turn around and call Minnesotans stupid. Gosh, I wonder what that reason could be...

On a side note: Blue Man is back blogging at his home base. He laid the serious smackdown on the Republican Party delusions over Al Franken and their faux outrage over the present votes of Keith Ellison and Betty McCollum. I have enjoyed hosting him here but am glad to read him wherever he blogs...

HOLY CRAP, the Twitter has been compromised and now there is rampant short messaging going on all over the place from the Obama twitter to the Brittany Spears twitter! I should have known something was awry when Michael Brodkorb started expressing his undying devotion to Al Franken and accusing Norm Coleman of being a rampant pornographer. I guess I just assumed that this was just another Machiavellian move to regain some sort of relevance before he descended into the depths of irrelevance as one of the three or so remaining members of the Minnesota Senate Republicans. It wasn't until Jeff Rosenberg started advocating communism that I knew everything with the twitter machine had returned to normal.

[photo from TIME Quote of the Day]

On to the daily romp:

We haven't even finished this brain aneurism of a Senate election and this yahoo wants to start predicting the fate of a re-election campaign in 2014? We have truly descended into the seventh level folks...

Leave it to conservatives to pick the most petty battle and take it to its OBVIOUS conclusion which is the complete destruction of America. I love a good melodrama as much as the next guy, but this is bordering on the farcical.

Now this from Anti-Strib... Whine, whine whine. piss moan piss moan piss moan. When other people read this stuff I wonder if they start to hear the sound of adults from the peanuts (wah, wah, wah, wah wah wah). Just curious...

There is more whining about taxes over at this other site. I wonder if Gary Gross is going to challenge this guy to a duel because he is on a tear about RHINO hunters (or something like that).

Did anybody notice that Andy Aplikowski is back in business or that he ever left? No? I didn't think so...

There is something about how Barack Obama was able to win Minnesota. Naturally, I didn't read it because I imagine it is about communism, terrorism, and brainwashing small children through the super secret Obama mind control device.

Damn you Hollywood for hating war and not towing the conservative line!

ALERT! Norm Coleman lost and is thinking impure thoughts...

ALERT! ALERT! Gary Gross stills doesn't like Tarryl Clark. Who doesn't love a good Gross rant about Tarryl Clark? I can't get enough of the delusions...

Some guy named Obermueller (obviously a super communist pen name) is going to the governmenty place in that capitol thing.

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! Jeff Rosenberg loves the taxes. It's the fees that he is super pissed about.

Seriously? You, first of all, care that Joe Biden couldn't get into a sold out movie and second, believe that Sarah Palin would have been able to bully herself in? HOORAY, your Vice Presidential candidate would be able to abuse her power better than my Vice President.

What do the words Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, and INDEPENDENT investigation have in common? Normally nothing, unless you are an uber gullible drone who will believe literally anything.

You leave up that Coleman yard sign! That will show 'em!

Finally, I know for sure that Al Franken won. Why? Obviously because MNPublius told me and those guys know EVERYTHING!

Tim Walz is sending back his pay raise. If I were him I would take it and immediately donate it to the Brian Davis campaign because then at least someone will be supporting the guy. I feel a little bad for the guy...

Some conservative cannot find very many good reasons to live in Minnesota yet he will remain and do his best to screw the whole place up anyway.

Here it is, your best blog sentence of the day: "If there is a more sorry sack of spineless shit excuse for a Senate Majority Leader than Harry "I have to borrow my balls from Mitch McConnell's handpurse" Reid, your Curmudgeon isn't sure he even wants to know about it."

Do you enjoy being drunk? Sorry, stupid question. Check out all the opportunities you have to get wasted AND talk politics at the same time.

Jeff Rosenberg is trying to teach you people about the government stuff. People are depressed enough the way it is, Jeff. They don't need you learnin' them more crap about the laws and such. Besides, if they start gettin' the smarts how will guys like you and I spread the propaganda?

LOOK! Steve Gottwalt sent out a press release describing just how irrelevent he continues to be and how his attempts to screw up have thus far been thwarted by filthy liberals.

In college I was a bit of a smart ass (fine, I am still a smart ass). One day a friend of mine asked me something about women's history presuming that I would know given that I was majoring in history. Being my usual self, I provided her with an entire detailed chronology of women's history:
In the beginning, there was Eve.

Then, for a long time nothing happened.

Then, women got the right to vote.

It has been all down hill from there!
I don't think this particular female friend or my uber liberal feminist theatre professor appreciated my wit. But it was funny nonetheless!

This image reminded me of that story...

On to the daily romp:

Good Lord, Gavin Sullivan got a hold of Erik Paulsen and tattooed him. I met Gavin once but didn't take him for a vigilante tattoo artist.

So Anti-Strib is pissed about something. You can be sure that it is the fault of some dark skinned people or the poor. Seriously, I have long ago given up trying to explain this collection of racist misfits and have taken to merely laughing at whatever ludicrous notion they have to offer.

Normally I wouldn't care what they have to say at the Kool Aid Report because rampant cursing under the guise of humor is really just juvenile but THIS is funny.

ALERT! Union intimidation BAD. Employer intimidation A OK.

Those bastards in the state legislature (obviously code for Democrats) are trying to get YOUR input into potential solutions for the budget deficit. How DARE you engage the electorate!

It looks like the last seven young Republicans in the entire country have banded together to form their own little organization. Perhaps we could create some sort of protected status so that this endangered species might one day thrive. Send your donations to the Endangered Young Republicans Fund...

ALERT! ALERT! Start practicing your ayes and watch more hockey because we are joining Canada. The upside is that we will have way better beer!

Well isn't it obvious what we need to do in order to rebuild the Republican Party for the future? We must simply look to the past and try to revive Ronald Reagan. It certainly makes sense to me...

Is there anything better in this world than the soft undertones of racism? It takes a great deal of talent to be a subtle racist...

Join with TwoPutt and the rest of the communists at some event dubbed the Blue Ball on January 24th. Seriously, I am considering going because frankly, TwoPutt RULES and what self respecting guy wouldn't like to attend a Blue Ball!

Jeff Fecke is embarking on an ambitious 2,920 post journey to detail the worst moments of the Bush Administration. Good luck, Jeff but I fear there is not enough time left here on Earth for such a detailed list.

The year is barely two days old and Hillary Clinton has already taken her 2009 "I'm a PSYCHO" picture. What is she doing? Did that guy on the left try to shove her off the stage? Is she trying to blow down a building with her super breath? Is she challenging someone to a fight? You be the judge...

Feel free to add your own captions in the comments.

On to the daily romp:

How do you know it is a slow news day? When the blog for MPR liveblogs one of the programs created by MPR.

The great purge of the Republican Party continues. I, for one, couldn't agree more with this assessment. A purified party will do wonders! Incidentally, I have stood on 'principal' before and can tell you that they really don't appreciate it when you do that. I recommend standing on 'principle'.

Let me get this straight: The United States Senate declares that it will not seat ANYONE chosen by Blagojevich BEFORE he chooses a black man and that makes them racist on the level of George Wallace? Well that analysis is just SUPER! Is it at all ironic that this pearl of wisdom comes from the party that is thinking of making its leader a guy who promotes a song titled 'Barack the Magic Negro'?

It's a good thing Aplikowski sent out an update that his blog is ok and everyone should calm down because I was starting to get concerned. Where would I go for incoherent ramblings about Michele Bachmann being super awesome and how Democrats are destroying America?

ALERT! Michael Brodkorb is a thug but we should keep him around because his thuggery is directed at Democrats... (or did I miss this point of this Republican hissy fit in fighting?)

PZ Myers won an award for being a bastard about some cracker that people believe represents the flesh of some religidude. Hooray, Mr. Myers!

With all due respect to my friend, TwoPutt, can we please stop our pissing and moaning about losses in 2008 and keep our eyes focused on not screwing things up in the future?

Dear Jeff Rosenberg,

I love the snark. However, if you don't stop denegrating the traditional role of soup in our society with its heterogenous mixtures you are going to go straight to soup hell! We refuse to recognize the existence of homogenous soup because it is just plain WRONG!

Apparently all the wacky Christians (as opposed to the vast majority of sane Christians) are threatening to pull their kids out of public education. YES! Now my super awesome liberal indoctrination machine can move ahead full force...

Dear Readers,

I am not claiming that reading this blog has any any curative power nor am I claiming that clicking on the various ads along the right sidebar will bring you eternal happiness.

Do you really want to take the chance though? Everybody is doing it & it will make you feel good.

For a smooth flavor and eternal happiness, call on Liberal in the Land of Conservative...

That being said, on to the daily romp:

John Marty (DFL) is running for Governor. It doesn't appear that everyone is keen on this decision by Marty. My problem is not that Marty is an also ran. Rather, it is that I have already decided on the official DFL Gubernatorial ticket. VOTE Ollie Ox/Blue Man! On a happier note, this news seems to have at least for a day pushed out slightly the worse and worser recount news that has dominated the blogosphere.

So, who is your ideal candidate?

Apparently, George W. Bush is almost done doing that President thing. Check out this presidency in review...

Damn you liberals for ignoring the "morlas"...

King Banaian tweeted Hugh Hewitt? Why are they trying to redefine the definition of tweetage?

I have tried for a long time to make sense out of the caricature that is Michele Bachmann. What I have come to learn is that attempting to make sense of the incoherent ramblings of the Congresswoman from the 6th District will only leave one tired and needing many alcoholic beverages. Unfortunately, Jeff Rosenberg is now trying to comprehend the incomprehensible.

In what I would consider the post of the day, Across the Great Divide lays out the case on why the Rick Warren invocation battle is the wrong battle to be fighting. Coming in a close second is a conversation with Spot concerning the definition of charity.

One of my favorite things about conservatives is how quickly they will kick you out of the movement the moment you stray from the strict party line.

That Anti-Strib! They never fail to disappoint when you are looking for your daily dose of incomprehensible stupidity. The only information they have to go on is a sentence claiming that a woman "became a single mother this year". Their conclusion? Well she obviously DECIDED to be a single mother and live off the dole. Granted, she has TWO jobs and is working to become a nurse but that doesn't matter, she's a DEADBEAT!

It's bad news for the imaginary "War" on Christmas! Apparently, we need to redouble our efforts to finally destroy this Christmas beast.

So Barack Obama likes the Spam. Is there any way we can use this information to prove that he is not really an American or is a terrorist? No true American REALLY likes Spam!

Apparently, George W. Bush travelled back in time just to talk to Ghengis Khan. What ever happened to NOT talking to evil terrorists bent on world domination and destruction?

What concessions was Bush able to get from the khan?

Does anybody else wonder if they compared notes on how to effectively lay waste to large swaths of a continent?

On to your abbreviated and late Daily Romp:

Tim Pawlenty is going to cut the crap out of you and you are going to love it!

As usual, Ron Carey is wrong...

Some guy is whining about how unions aren't all that bad. Let me tell you something, if we would just let owners do whatever they want, then they will be super nice to their workforce. The lessons of the early 1900s teach us that.

Ollie Ox is still obsessed with statements about new Agriculture Secretary, Tom Vilsack. Does it seem to anyone else like she is trying to dig up some dirt so that she can take the position for herself?

Let me get this straight, the right is always pissing and moaning about media bias and the left is always pissing and moaning about media bias. Doesn't that mean everything is just right?

Aaron Brown is on the air up north... (No podcast link? WTF)

What in the world did we ever do without all the useless crap to be found on the internets? For example, I never used to have a need to incessantly poke a penguin with my mouse until it magically attacked a virtual finger. There has to be a metaphor in there somewhere about how vapid and useless we have become as a society but I am too busy poking a penguin to create it.

On to the daily romp:

I have tried desperately to avoid discussing the recount between worse and worser. However, King Banaian is actually providing real evidence why we should all ignore it and start paying attention to his analysis of coffee and gasoline. Also, there is at least a little bit of humor to come out of this mindnumbingly boring process.

Do you want to help out with the budget deficit problem so that the people we elected don't have to actually do any work? Well, you can either visit some useless blog that only Gary Gross visits to offer a incoherent tirade OR you can go right to the source and tell those actual government people.

Is progressive republican an oxymoron? Probably not, but if republicans keep on their current path, then we might soon see Minnesota Republican as an oxymoron...

I hate to quibble with some guy who is a mayor but wouldn't it be helpful if you provided some actual evidence when calling something a MYTH? Also, there is this:

Second we need to engage St. Paul to redefine a new Minnesota Miracle that fits 21st Century economies and politics. It means fundamental reform (sometimes painful reform) for state and local unit of governments alike. Only then will everyone know the new rules so true innovation can take place. [emphasis mine]

How does one redefine something that is a myth, in your mind, to begin with? Furthermore, if there was no first Minnesota Miracle, then how does one create a NEW Minnesota Miracle? Maybe I am just not a super smart mayor from some town...

Jeff Rosenberg continues to make us all look like amateur slobs with his fancy schmancy graphs and charts...

Why in the world is everyone SHOCKED that Darth Cheney admitted to torture? Would you really expect anything less from the guy that can shoot someone in the face and get an apology for it?

On a serious note, someone is going to have to explain to me why everyone is so upset about the Rick Warren thing. Fine, the guy is a bigot. Haven't we been arguing all along that guilt by association is a ludicrous argument though?

ALERT! Michele Bachmann is still a bigot with a big mouth prone to spew idiotic statements. That is all...

Damn you, Barack Obama! You might talk to a small island nation filled with super communists with no ability to harm us and a leader who is on his death bed. I'm so afraid now...

ALERT! ALERT! Education is bad and dam you liberals for tryin to tech us!

The comedy portion of this evenings daily romp comes from that master of wit, Dick Cheney. That's right, under the circumstances what more can you expect from Cheney and Bush? You weren't expecting that we would have a thriving economy, were you? You weren't expecting us to think before we jumped into an unrelated war, were you? You weren't expecting that people wouldn't be tortured, were you? You weren't expecting competence, were you? You weren't expecting that our cities would be protected from hurricanes, were you? Because if you thought these two would leave the country in better shape than they found it, the joke is on YOU!

[Photo from TIME Quote of the Day]

On to the daily romp:

Ollie Ox has a mixed review to the news of Governor Tom Vilsack as the new Secretary of Agriculture. Although it appears like Collin Peterson is on board. Unfortunately, I cannot make snarky comments of Ollie or her posts because, as we all know, YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE OX!

If there is one thing to say about King Banaian, it is that he provides some of the most original work throughout the blogosphere.

There is a Drinking Liberally holiday party and they want you to bring toys for tots. Unfortunately, they will be ultra liberal toys meant to bring on the communism and destroy Christmas...

It has been cold lately and that OBVIOUSLY means there is no global warming. When will people stop listening to the vast majority of scientists who believe and start listening to the tin foil hat conspiracy theorists?

As usual, all the James Oberstar news that nobody really cares about is being graciously provided by Aaron Brown. I do enjoy the snark though:

I hope LaHood likes bike paths. Because he's going to get some damn bike paths whether he likes them or not.

PLEASE, if you have any instances in which you have been oppressed by the liberal bogeyman or woman occupying your college campus or other educational facilities, then please contact Gary Gross so that he can compile an extensive list of all the mean things educators are doing to make students consider all sides of an argument!

If anyone has firsthand knowledge of Minnesota college faculty who are using their classrooms as an indoctrination center, please contact me by leaving a comment. Also, anyone who has firsthand knowledge of professors using intimidation tactics on students should contact me by leaving a comment. Only I can see your email address.

I’d be stunned if indoctrination and intimidation aren’t commonplace on university campuses. It’s time we started pushing back.

I know I use my classroom as an indoctrination center ALL THE TIME. In fact, I even indoctrinate them into believing that indoctrination is the only way they should learn and if they aren't being indoctrinated then they really aren't learning.

Jeff Rosenberg agrees with Newt Gingrich? Will someone please take away his liberal card? Come on, bipartisanship can only go so far!

When will people realize that Jesus was obviously NOT dark skinned. I mean, he was born in the Middle East and people in that area of the world are known for their milky white skin! When will the wholesale oppression of the white man end?

It's a twofer from Gary Gross! Two republicans win in republican areas and a republican wins in a democratic area because the Democrat is as equally corrupt as say, Tom Delay, Jack Abramoff, Duke Cunningham, Bob Ney, Don Young, or Ted Stevens. The conclusion? Democrats are going to lose from now on because the momentum is over! As usual, Gary will be hoping in one hand and...

Some lady named Katherine Kersten is whining about people not liking her and such...

Dear sweet mother of god if I have to hear or see one more conservative whine about the fairness doctrine that no one else is even discussing, then I believe I might start a crusade to bring it back just so they will actually have some facts to back up their ludicrous claims.

Gavin Sullivan is trying to start a fight with Chris Truscott? Guys, don't you remember the first rule of fight club?

Last, but certainly least, Leo Pusateri has something to say about something that is really pissing him off right now. Let me take the liberty of a translation: "liberals bad, Bill Clinton, blah, blah, blah..."

Dear Eliot,

Don't you mean to say that the problem is that being a Salon columnist doesn't suck whereas being Governor offered the potential for suck and THAT is what, in fact, sucks? That is all...

[Photo from TIME Quote of the Day]

Am I the only one who doesn't obsess about columnists who write for the Star Tribune? Or, even worse, base my entire life around demonizing a newspaper? The drawback here is that now you people have to get your information from useless bloggers...

So, this genius gets a hit on his blog from a school district ip address apparently looking for Anna Nicole Smith. His conclusion? OBVIOUSLY, a teacher. Never mind the possibility that this could be some teenage student using school resources improperly. NO, let's blame a teacher and turn that into a larger comment about ALL education.

King Banaian doesn't have enough to do examining how much this economy sucks so he is obsessing about the market forces of a cup of coffee. Can anyone say obsessive compulsive disorder? All sniping aside, it is an interesting read...

A conservative guide to the twitter...
1. Twitter is good for you and all the cool conservatives are using it...
Roosh needs a reason for he and other conservatives to stay in Minnesota. I know, I'm stumped too...

ALERT! MNPublius has information that leads them to believe El Tinklenberg has more than $500,000 left in campaign funds. Oops, it would be news if Ollie Ox hadn't already discussed it more than 10 days ago. Lesson learned? Don't mess with the Ox...

Aaron Brown has the Rukavina solution to the budget crisis. I've got nothing here other than to say that everytime I hear the name Rukavina, well, I giggle...

There is something about how some conservative is mad that minorities are expressing pride and should be more ashamed at their terrible racism towards the downtrodden white man.

Somebody learned 5 things from Michele Bachmann this year. Really? That is kind of generous, don't you think? Granted, they are not very flattering things but lets not give Bachmann so much credit that she was somehow the originator of FIVE original, even if humorously absurd, thoughts.

The smartest guy I know (although I don't know very many people) has some great post election analysis.

Being a progressive means that you are opposed to George W. Bush? Really? Is the movement THAT shallow? Perhaps I was wrong about being a progressive...

Leo Pusateri went to the movies. I know, it sounds like the start of a really bad joke and it probably is but he did go see a movie. His conclusion? Conspiracies! Conspiracies! Liberals! Enviro-whackos! He made it safely home and got his tin foil hat on just in time...

After having reviewed the video of the shoe throwing incident I have two observations. First, whatever I may think of the Presidential performance of George W. Bush no one deserves to have a stinky shoe thrown at them. Second, you have to admire the ability of W. to duck and weave around the incoming footwear. You have to wonder if he is used to people throwing things at him...

[Photo from TIME Quote of the Day]

On to the daily romp:

Ollie Ox is now using the twitter...

They are celebrating Bill of Rights Day over at Grizzly Groundswell by rambling on about how ironic it is that Franklin Roosevelt established the day. Is it at all ironic that this group of conservatives accuses Roosevelt of violating the Bill of Rights while supporting George W. Bush?

Keynesian economics is WRONG! So wrong, in fact, that all you have to do is call it wrong without providing any additional information to support your thesis:
Now THAT is some hard hitting reporting...

Andy Aplikowski would like to be appointed to the Senate seat of either New York or Illinois. An Aplikowski FREE Minnesota? I am willing to chip in for that one...

There is some decent analysis of a potential Pawlenty run at a third term versus stepping down and beginning his run for the Presidency in 2012. Unfortunately, I think the article underestimates the ability of the DFL to hand gubernatorial elections over to the Republican Party. For more Pawlenty news, you can check out Ollie Ox comparing him to King George and his policies to that of the Stamp Act (Great Stuff!).

Jeff Rosenberg appears surprised at the willingness of Republicans to step into the abyss of insanity. Really, Jeff, are you really surprised?

Mitch Berg is pimping out some top ten article by the Young America Foundation. Forgive me if I don't put too much credence in an organization that welcomes Michele Bachmann into its midst and advocates action against liberal educators.

I do so enjoy the whole "liberals hate guns" meme! As usual, the hatemongers over at Anti-Strib rise to the occasion:

You can even give one to your liberal friends and have them spend some time with you on the range. Most liberals have never shot a gun and thus fear them. Maybe if they understood guns better they wouldn't hate them so much?

I would encourage this 'il duce to travel up north and visit my liberal relatives who live just on the edge of the northwoods. Perhaps they will think twice about this foolish notion once they have been bear baiting with some liberals!

Apparently Tim Walz has decided to be a selfish jerk and only govern the lower portion of the state of Minnesota!

Although there is some humor to be found in this story from none other than Michael Brodkorb. Humor, you say? From Michael Brodkorb, you say? YES! On learning the information that Walz would not run, Brodkorb pulled out the old pictures to go along with the post. To top off the humor, he chastises his commenters with this line:
Yeah, folks! personal attacks are meant for the body of the post and NOT the comments section. I believe the phrase, You reap what you sow applies to this particular situation and most definitely to this particular blogger. That Brodkorb, what a humorist!

On this day in 1869, Wyoming voted to give women the right to vote. Like most reasons that men do anything, there was an ulterior motive.

From the History Channel:
Wyoming legislators supported Bright and Lee's bill because they thought it would win the territory free national publicity and might attract more single marriageable women to the region.

Way to go Wyoming! Who knew that the pick up line, "excuse me, would you like to come back to my place and have a little suffrage", would be so effective.

On to the daily romp:

That Keith Ellison guy is trying to get Muslims across the country to rise up. Why? Because Obama's middle name is HUSSEIN. Be afraid righties, BE VERY AFRAID.

Religious leaders demanding constitutionally mandated bigotry call gay people bigots. That's right folks, if you deny someone the right to love you are NOT a bigot. However, if you demand that your love be recognized, then you are a SUPER BIGOT. Makes sense, doesn't it?

The 44th President of the United States has not even been sworn into office and we already have someone dropping out of the 2012 race against him.

The economy has been humming along smoothly and all you naysayers who believe differently are just liberal commie pinkos who deserve to be investigated by the media.

So, some yahoo can't remember all the incidence of corruption in the Republican Party. Whose fault is this? Why that biased liberal media, of course!

A triple threat over at Heavy Handed Politics:
  • Obama is a foreigner! I swear, it's totally true.
  • OMG, he is going to talk to some Muslims! Obviously, he is a Muslim.
  • Sarah Palin is super awesome because she invited Obama to Alaska.
The progressive movement has failed on labor and gay rights. I tend to agree but also understand that there are still plenty of people within that label that are opposed to gay rights who need convincing. You can go to mnpACT for the full story.

ALERT! James Inhofe still doesn't believe in global warming...

Across the Great Divide tracks his charitable giving with a handy dandy spreadsheet? What a huge nerd! Why can't he be flippant with his cash like the rest of us poor lazy liberals...

Jeff Rosenberg took Tim Pawlenty to the woodshed today for wrecking the economy then using this destruction to prove government is bad.

Dear Mitch Berg,

The election is over and you no longer have to try to convince everyone that Sarah Palin is super awesome. We all get it, her vapid stupidity brought out the base in droves. At some point it looks like you are trying to convince yourself rather than the rest of us.

Walmart does suck and if you have ever been into the St. Cloud store, it's a little scary!

ALERT! ALERT! Please sign this petition so that an imaginary doctrine that no one is advocating for will be defeated. Serious, these pretend threats need to be stopped and you can join the movement to stop them.

Aaron Brown is going national...

A couple of good riddance shout outs need mention today as the Democratic Party proves that it too has its share of stupidity.

William Jefferson (D), who was caught with loads of cash in his freezer, lost his re-election bid. Does it suck to lose a seat in the House of Representatives? Sure, but it hurts more to have this knuckle head with a (D) behind his name.

Perhaps even worse than Jefferson, Rod Blagojevich (D) was arrested today. It seems he was trying to benefit financially from the vacant seat left by Barack Obama.

Neither party is free from stupidity and it is the job of everyone in the party to immediately admonish and oust these folks!

On to the daily romp through the Minnesota blogosphere:

Some yahoo over at Minnpost is going to be "monitoring" the blogs here in Minnesota and pimping out the best ones so the rest of us don't have to put in the effort. I am not here to monitor or be monitored, sir, I am here to mock and ridicule and on rare occasion make some sort of vague rambling point about how Republicans are the devil incarnate!

For example, Lake Minnetonka Liberty really wants you to sign a petition. Why? Because some of those damned capitalists have been buying Islamic companies. Damn you capitalism, DAMN YOU!

And why does Jeff Rosenberg want to give the poor money? Doesn't he realize that these people need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps? So what if they cannot afford the straps or the boots to pull themselves up with! Still hating America I guess...

Jeff Bodell is wondering if we can get anything done in the Minnesota House when Republicans have scared the bejeezus out of its membership so much that they will be little more than drone soldiers for Marty "I'm taking my ball and going home!" Seifert.

Drew Emmer continues to hope in one hand and... well, you know the rest!

Our members have plenty of hope

We will see which gets filled first!

Gary Gross has some sort of incoherent rant about how Republicans are qualified and Democrats are OBVIOUSLY not. I love it when Gross uses the word WE as if he really understands what WE really see and believe. You gotta love a little projection...

Aaron Brown has a post up about teachers rallying before heading into negotiations. The best part is the smack down he gives to a commenter! Incidentally, I will be soon heading into my first negotiations as the Co-President of my union.

Across the Great Divide has the post of the day with this line about poverty in America:

The reality is that opportunity in America is not a simple binary choice between unlimited possibility and total victimhood and dysfunction. It's a complex, shifting continuum.

Larry Schumacher at Political Quarry has the information on Michele Bachmann's latest award. Fortunately, Andy Aplikowski is quick to call it liberal bias thus negating any and all relevance for the award. Other news at Political Quarry is that two of my favorite legislators, Larry Haws & Tarryl Clark, are having a town hall meeting this Saturday to discuss the budget deficit.

Finally, poor Larry Craig just can't catch a break! It's a sad day when a guy cannot toe tap his way to male companionship then insist that he didn't do anything and continue oppressing gay people.

75 years ago today, the 21st Amendment was ratified thereby ending our long national nightmare of prohibition. There are few things better than a nice dark beer of Irish descent...

I had the opportunity to visit the Pilsner-Urquell brewing factory in the Czech Republic while traveling through Europe. While I am not usually a fan of light beer, this was fantastic...

So, Happy Repeal Day and here is your daily romp through the Minnesota blogosphere:

SCSU Scholars, run by economist King Banaian, is giving out some perspective on the current economic recession. While I don't agree with many things Banaian touts, I am certainly not going to argue with a respected economist.

It looks like Jim Ramstad is making a play for the Drug Czar position. Check it out at Minnesota Independent.

Over at a blog I haven't read or seen before, Foreign & Domestic, there is an intersting question: how many events can you pick out of the "We Didn't Start The Fire" song by Billy Joel (without using the google).

Jeff Rosenberg is throwing out ideas on how to fix the current budget deficit in Minnesota. Writing at MN Progressive Project, he is making his usual case for compromise and keeping all options on the table. It's a great read...

One of the more moving stories I have seen in movie form is Hotel Rwanda. MinneAfrica is calling into question whether the story of Rusesabagina is accurate.

Across The Great Divide has an interesting take on the current economic situation. Why should we expect more fiscal responsibility from our government when we don't practice ourselves?

How do you rebuild the conservative movement? Why Twitter, of course! Also over at True North is a story about how the nearly super minority Republican House Caucus is really excited to be irrelevent.

Andy Barnett is still around (I wonder if he has found a job yet) and still spreading the hate. How DARE someone in the evangelical movement express a viewpoint counter to Barnett's!

OMG, Jeff Fecke at Blog of the Moderate Left is a 'Friends' nerd! If you don't get the connection, you are not a 'Friends' nerd. Unfortunately, I am forced to be a 'Friends' nerd because of my wife.

Does anybody other than Gary Gross really care about Steve Gottwalt's reaction to the budget deficit? Seriously? Oh, and by the way nobody cares about what Fred Thompson thinks either...

Here it is, the daily romp:

Heavy Handed Politics is pimping out the story that Hillary Clinton cannot become Secretary of State due to a constitutional conflict. So NOW they want to start following the Constitution, nice!

Twin Cities Daily Liberal has some more information on the organization awarding Bachmann as a "Guarding of Worker Freedom". When did higher wages and benefits go against worker freedom?

The Alliance gives Minnesota an “F” for not being a right-to-work state, having a minimum wage higher than the federal minimum, having greater union membership than the national average, having prevailing wage laws, collective bargaining rights and other laws it defines as restricting “worker freedom.” [emphasis added]

Minnesota Brown examines the concept of clean coal. If you haven't put this blog on your must read list, you are truly missing out...

Lake Minnetonka Liberty has the answer for the conservative doldrums: keep throwing out the moderates! You go right ahead and we will see what it gets you...

At the other end of the spectrum you have Holly Cairns (one of my new favorite bloggers) at MN Progressive Project helping to create a big tent for the Democratic Party. While I don't agree that we should abandoned the term liberal, she makes some great points!

With that new, but old, label comes the glorious chance to define "Democrat." Yes, there will be individual differences in each candidate due to a unique set of values, but let's let the candidates explain their own stance. What we need is clarity and vision for the party.

Larry Schumacher at the Political Quarry has a run down of the current budget forecast and it doesn't look good. The conservative answer? Why blame the DFL of course!

Chris Truscott, finally fresh from campaign season, is back and providing the blogosphere with some much needed budget common sense.

It looks like Gary Gross is being forced to apologize for his intellectual dishonesty over at Let Freedom Ring after the Chamber of Commerce smacks him down. I wonder if his "loyal reader" will apologize as well.

I sincerely apologize to Sen. Clark for taking her statements out of context.

Michael Brodkorb has added another minion to Minnesota Democrats Exposed. I am pretty sure I met this guy at the happy hour this summer...

The holiday which must not be named as part of my continued secular war on it is just around the corner and it precursor, music, is already filling the airwaves. I must admit that there are few things more nauseating than Christmas music. Does this make me anti-Christmas? No, being a damned heathen secular liberal makes me anti-Christmas!

Seriously, I enjoy Christmas with its food and its family and its festivities but if there is some way we can have a war on the music I would join up in a second! So, if some high ranking officer in the war on Christmas could see it in their heart to focus strictly on the music I would be much appreciated.

Now for your daily romp through the Minnesota blogosphere:

Why do they hate the free market so much over at Shot in the Dark? The market is beginning to demand hybrid cars thus auto makers are beginning to make them and this supposed free market conservative has his panties in a bunch because people are willing to buy even at elevated prices. Come on conservatives, at least find a coherent message! Either the free market is super awesome where business will find a niche and fill it or the free market is a tool of the liberal left.

There are more Orwellian awards being handed out as Michele Bachmann wins the "Guardian of Worker Freedom" award. Minnpost has the story on this organization and how it "protects" the rights of workers to have low wages and few benefits...

There are more rumblings over at Minnesota Independent that retired Congressman, Jim Ramstad, would be a good choice for Drug Czar in an Obama Administration. While some Democrats would applaud this appointment purely out of strategy, I would applaud it because Ramstad is one of a few Republicans that I have high respect for and would even vote for if given the chance.

When Republicans win, obstruction is BAD & when Republicans lose, obstruction is a natural tool of the minority. I don't know why Twin Cities Daily Liberal doesn't understand this very basic and completely logical statement!

Gary Gross is back tilting at windmills as he continues his assault on Tarryl Clark. Over at Let Freedom Ring an anonymous "reader" tells him that Clark made a statement supporting no new taxes. I am currently trying to verify this and will have more when it becomes available. Why is it that I just don't believe Gross or his anonymous reader?

I love Anti-Strib! Seriously, there are few sites that do more to make the case for the DFL and liberals than this conservative hatemongering extravaganza. What are they up to now? First there was all those "dirt worshipping heathens" and then there are all those mexicans who are obviously illegal and obviously criminals and then there are all the muslims who are obviously all terrorists and NOW you can add the poor. What did the poor do, you ask? Well, they are apparently all LOSERS:

There seems to be a major mental disconnect in Washington over just who is defauting on all of these mortgages. People like me who rent to the masses know exactly who these people are, they are mostly losers.

Wright County Republican is giving a shout out to Representative Kohls for advocating a spending freeze. It sounds great until you read that it little more than a gimmick...

As Dump Bachmann ponders the question of a Bachmann run for Governor I give a resounding GO FOR IT! The 6th District will once again send a lamb to slaughter...

In my email inbox I received the following message:
It is my distinct pleasure, as the president of Americans for Limited Government, to invite you today to become a key member of the exciting new conservative “bloggers central,” NetRightNation.com.
Either these people are so desperate for blogs to add to their list that they will completely ignore the fact that this is definitely NOT a conservative blog or they are not very successful readers. I tend toward the latter and will try to dumb things down somewhat so that they can understand the content.

Here is your daily romp through the Minnesota blogosphere:

Centrisity, one of my favorite blogs for its concise but highly informative nature, has a blurb and a cartoon about the selection of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. My thought on the Clinton appointment is that if she works hard to make an Obama Administration successful it will set her up for another run in 2016.

Joe Bodell at MN Progressive Project took the words right out of my mouth when it comes to Instant Runoff Voting. If you get better candidates, it will not be necessary.

If we can find a few of those in the next few months, we will not need to change the way we vote in order to win. Independent voters are dissatisfied with the major-party candidates? Fine. Let's give them better candidates -- better Democrats -- who inspire them and remind them of what makes Minnesota great.

And leave out the IRV. We have enough problems figuring out how to count just one round of balloting.

Residual Forces is continuing the cleansing of the Republican Party by kicking out all of Governors across the country. Please, somebody make this guy the chairman of the party here in Minnesota! Seriously, it will be great.

Blue Man is back and already producing great stuff about legislative pay. Welcome back, Hal!

Mississippifarian has a wonderful mash-up of rantings ranging from living wages to Bristol Palin.

Aaron Brown at Minnesota Brown is obviously in favor of keeping Jim Oberstar in his role in the Congress rather than nominating him to be Transportation Secretary. I tend to agree...

Holly Cairns continues her wonderful series of posts examining the crazy conservative organization known as Minnesota Majority over at MN Progressive Project. She asks whether women also have rights and to that the answer is obviously, NO!

St. Cloud is joining a growing list of cities to use surveillance cameras to keep an ever vigilant eye on the streets. Check out MinnPost for more...

Eyeteeth has the introduction of a new Monty Python Youtube Channel and I have already bookmarked it as a favorite because if you cannot love Python then you are obviously a terrorist.

I have desperately tried to avoid the recount stories, but whenever I agree with Gary Gross at Let Freedom Ring it must be officially logged. Over at Minnesota Independent they have the DUH question of the day: could we have found a better Democrat?

Political Quarry reports that Amy Klobuchar is coming to the St. Cloud area...

As always, my favorite Congressman lives up to his word. Bluestem Prairie has the news about the Walz earmarks.

Jeff at Twin Cities Daily Liberal is definitely going to have his liberal membership revoked as he continues to claim that a march to the middle by Obama is a good thing. It must really suck for conservatives when liberals like Jeff make so much sense.

In honor of the new Monty Python channel, I bring you some music:

My wife and I have had a long streak of injury free children going back nearly 9 years to the birth of our first daughter. However, that streak was broken this weekend as our youngest tried to do battle with the corner of a table and lost. Three stitches later, we stand at 2 full days without a serious injury.

On the bright side, she received an adorable new stuffed puppy we have officially named "stitches".

That being said, here is your daily romp through the Minnesota blogosphere:

An important change to the Minnesota blogosphere occurred this weekend as MNblue and Minnesota Campaign Report merged into MN Progressive Project. Congratulations to those involved! My only complaint? The link leading to this blog is broken!

Eyeteeth is discussing the death of the copyright and how the Obama Administration is complicit in that death through their new creative commons policy at change.gov.

The Cucking Stool has some upcoming attractions for Drinking Liberally. I don't know if one needs to be formally invited to these events but they sound like a good time...

It is Word AIDS Day and 11th Avenue South has information about events happening here in Minnesota to commemorate the day.

mnpACT has an examination of the 4 mistakes made with the state budget last year. With the legislative session fast approaching I will be looking to see if my local legislators take up the challenge and bring the big ideas.

We have a massive budget debate coming. This patchwork approach that has overshadowed the discussion is not solving our budgetary problem. It is time for big ideas on Healthcare. Time for broader solutions on revenue. Time for a comprehensive transportation approach.

Budgets can't keep thinking about the short term. Minnesota's past strong economic engine was based on forward projections and inclusive ideas.

We need more of that, now more than ever.

MNPublius wants all you Minnesotans to start having promiscuous sex with many partners! Why? Well to keep our 8 congressional districts, of course. I say keep it in your pants people so that we can district Michele Bachmann out of a job.

In even stranger news, Twin Cities Daily Liberal has a post up about George W. Bush receiving some sort of peace prize. That's right, a PEACE prize. If this doesn't tear a hole in the space time continuum, I don't know what will! In other Twin Cities Daily Liberal news that I learned today, I am older than Jeff Rosenberg. Well, at least I am younger than Hal Kimball...

Apparently the end is nie at Grizzly Groundswell as the election of Barack Obama obviously means we have a state run media. I often wonder if tinfoil hats get itchy...

Conservative art is the theme at True North. While I applaud the effort, I shutter to think what conservative art might look like.

Bluestem Prairie has a great bread and butter round up with accompanying R.E.M. (it just doesn't get any better).

Shot in the Dark is doing some more whining about the Community Reinvestment Act. For all their inaccuracies, you have to give them credit for blind persistence! The most amusing part is that half way through the comments you find contributor Mitch Berg completely contradicting the crux of the post. Stay on message boys!

For once I agree with King Banaian over at SCSU Scholars. If you do not have the ability to say no to your children A LOT, then perhaps you need to invest in some contraceptives.

Over at Preserving Freedom you can learn all about how the Alaska Independence Party isn't so bad and all that stuff about breaking away from the United States is just good old fashioned conservatism. You have to love the patriotism there!

The best part is that he is rehashing the Civil War:

This is the United States, it is a Union of States. States can choose to join, logically they also can choose to leave. But of course the issue isn't about what is right or logical. Rather, like most problems in the world, it is about power. If States could choose to secede, it would lessen the power of the Federal Government.

Do you have health care? If you answered NO, stop lying because it is a myth according to Wright County Republican. Given that he is using data from the Heartland Institutute I am immediately suspicious but I do find one line interesting:

But a study published in Health Affairs in November 2006 estimated that 25% of the uninsured were in fact eligible for public coverage,

Now given that Emmer and other conservatives want to get rid of public coverage it doesn't appear to help their argument to say that people could be eligible for that coverage. Have they factored in the percentage of uninsured if we kicked everyone off public coverage? Probably not...
