In what has become an all too frequent mantra of the Bachmann tenure, the people of the 6th District will be without representation even on election night. Rather than celebrate in her own district, Bachmann will be partying it up in the farthest reaches of the 3rd District:

Please join us election night for the
BACHMANN TEAM
VICTORY PARTY

Tuesday, November 4th
8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Sheraton Bloomington Hotel
7800 Normandale Boulevard
Edina Room
Bloomington, MN 55439

This is not at all surprising given that she decided not to be in the district for the 2006 election. However, it is another instance in a long line where people living in the 6th District are left to wonder, where in the world is Michele Bachmann? So, just in case you needed to know how far away from her district she will be, here is a handy dandy map:
Michele Bachmann has sent out an urgent message to her supporters begging for more cash in order to remain the absent representative from the 6th Congressional District:

Dear Friends:

We appear to be witnessing an October surprise here in MN-06 and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann needs your help now – before the reporting period ends on Wednesday, October 15th.

I know that the conventional wisdom has been that the Bachmann seat would be one of the safer Republican seats this year. And, for good reason: for months, things have looked extraordinarily good, particularly thanks to strong financial support from people like you.

In contrast, our opponent’s fundraising has been somewhat anemic. And, his inability to raise much on his own helped to ensure that outside money would find other more promising races to fund.

Apparently, he’s only been biding his time.

He released his 3rd Quarter report today and his fundraising has picked up phenomenally. In fact, in the five-week period between filing of the pre-primary report and the end of September, he raised $312,560. That’s double what he raised in the five-week pre-primary period.

In fact, it far exceeds anything he raised in any of the full quarters this cycle.

He’s already attracting outside money. Alliance for a Better Minnesota – a liberal front group – is running television ads smearing Michele Bachmann’s record. And, the NRCC is reportedly shifting money to cover Michele Bachmann’s race.

A Republican victory in Minnesota’s Sixth District is far from a done deal. In fact, this race has become the last line of defense for Republicans.

It can still be a strong win – but we need your help and we need it now! Please go online and make a secure online donation at www.michelebachmann.com or FedEx your contribution to:

Bachmann for Congress
6053 Hudson Road
Suite 360
Woodbury, MN 55125

The end of the Pre-General Reporting Period is Wednesday, October 15th. We need your help to make this a strong one and keep the 527s and DCCC from pouring millions into this race in a final push to turn it from Red to Blue.

Please do not hesitate to call me at 651-735-7512 if you have any questions. Thank you for your prompt reply.

Sincerely,
Zandra Wolcott
Finance Director
Bachmann for Congress

With Elwyn Tinklenberg being added to the DCCC Red to Blue list and Michele Bachmann beginning to show some panic, there just may be hope for the 6th Congressional District. Tinklenberg needs to keep hammering home her far right agenda as well as the fact that Bachmann has largely ignored the district in order to build herself a national reputation. Now is the time to ante up and donate to a Elwyn Tinklenberg who is starting to take the fight to Bachmann.

My LTE appears in the St. Cloud Times today:
Dear Michele Bachmann,

Over the past few months I have watched intently as you have attended forums in Washington DC and Texas while coming home to the 6th District only to ride atop floats in a number of parades. I have watched as you make appearances on national television shows such as Bill O'Reilly and Larry King while coming home to the 6th District only for river cruise fundraisers involving a select few individuals. I have watched as you avoid and ignore offers to debate or discuss issues from your opponent. I have watched as you avoided Farmfest and opted to send low level staffers in your place.

My question, Mrs. Bachmann, is what will it take for you to pay attention to the people of your district? It seems even in an election year and at the height of election season you are displaying an attitude of ownership over this area and thus feel no need to be in personal contact with the people living here. Granted, you and I don't agree on much and I support Elwyn Tinklenberg but how can you and more importantly, how can your supporters justify a 20 month tenure in office with nary a single open forum or constituent meeting in the district? Are you simply too busy? If so, perhaps you could talk to Tim Walz in the 1st District and ask him how he juggles three times more committees than you and has still found time to meet on numerous occasions and in numerous places with his constituents.

This is a reliably conservative area and the chances for ANY Democrat to win it are long but I have to wonder if you aren't taking advantage of that conservatism by assuming you don't even have to show up to win.

This, I believe, should be the primary focus of the Tinklenberg Campaign. Bachmann has been notably absent from the district for quite some time now and has spent an exorbitant amount of time running a national campaign for a local House district. If constituents continue to support a representative who has little time for the very people she represents, then they probably deserve to be ignored.

It appears as though the Bachmann Campaign strategy is to run a re-election battle from afar. From stops in Alaska to Colorado to Louisiana to Texas, who would have thought that Minnesota's 6th Congressional District was so large? Unfortunately, Bachmann seems to be campaigning everywhere BUT the place in which she was elected. Certainly, she has graced us with her appearance in a few parades in which she sits atop a float far from the people she represents but her presence in the district and in the state beyond those appearances should be a source of concern to constituents who deserve local representation rather than self promoting politicians seeking only to advance up another step on the political ladder.

In yet another absentee appearance, Bachmann will be sending her "office" to the annual Farmfest:

Next week, my staff will hold Mobile Office Hours at FARMFEST. They will be on hand to talk to you about any issues you may be having with a federal agency or program and to talk to you about your thoughts and concerns on current events and legislation. If you are having a specific problem with a federal benefit or program and have letters or documents that might help my staff get answers for you quickly, please bring copies of that paperwork when you visit.

Where, then, will Michele Bachmann be? Two of her congressional colleagues, Tim Walz and Collin Peterson will be there and participating in the candidate forum. Also in attendance will be her opponent, El Tinklenberg. So, where in the world will Michele Bachmann be? Has Bachmann become so enamored with the national exposure that she has forgotten that she is a representative of one district in one part of Minnesota rather than representative of the Republican Party across the country? It is absolutely shameful for her to send what amounts to the "C" squad to Farmfest while she gallivants around the country speaking in mythical terms of $2 gas and continuing to outright lie about supporting "All of the Above". The Tinklenberg Campaign ought to be hammering her on this absenteeism day after day. Perhaps we need a Where in the World is Michele Bachmann booth or demonstration at Farmfest this year.

Now it is understandable, given that Bachmann is not a "Geography Legislator of the Year" recipient, that she might mistake the city of Dallas, Texas for the 6th District of Minnesota. However, it would be helpful to us in the district if she could find us on the map and pencil us into her self promotion tour just once or maybe even twice.

Over the next couple of days, Bachmann will be at the 9th Annual Freedom21 Conference with her gal pal, Phyllis Schlafly, and several other notable figures in the ultra conservative world. Awhile back I emailed the folks putting together this conference and was informed that this was not a first appearance for Bachmann.

"She has spoken at our conferences in the past and we look forward to hearing her again this year."

What is Freedom21?

If you travel over to their page entitled "Who we are and how we operate" page you find out less about who these folks are than you do about giving them your money. So, can we safely assume that who Freedom21 is is interested in your credit card information?

1. Freedom21.com is owned and operated by Tom and Carolyn DeWeese. Click here for Tom DeWeese's Bio.

2. Subscription payments to Freedom21.com through online, recurring credit card debits is the preferred method of subscription payment. Monthly credit card payments of $4.99 ($59.88 per year) provides the member with a Freedom21.com subscription, an on-line subscription to The DeWeese Report, plus special offers throughout the year. Accepted credit cards are Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Checking account bank cards may be used, only if they contain the Visa or MasterCard logos. Bankcards not authorized by Visa or MasterCard will not be accepted. Freedom21.com cannot provide monthly billing statements. In case a member decides to cancel their subscription, the paid monthly fee is not refundable. Service will be provided for the full month and cancellation will go into effect starting with the next calendar month after cancellation. Partial months will not be prorated. This policy will also cover those who pay memberships a year in advance. Refunds will be issued based on the number of months remaining in the subscription at the time of cancellation, beginning with the next calendar month.

What is the Freedom21 Conference?

This Conference is a veritable who's who of the right wing world with sponsors ranging from the Heartland Institute, Eagle Forum, and the organization that has long been the driver of Michele Bachmann, Edwatch. Their keynote speaker for this event, Jerome Corsi, of swift boat fame will join other notables such as Ron Paul, Arizona State Senator Karen Johnson (who happens to be a 9/11 Truther), and of course Phyllis Schlafly.

Bachmann continues to cozy up to the fringes of her party that are currently conspiracy theorizing about everything from 9/11 to some sort of North American Union while the citizens of her district are consistently ignored. At this point of the summer she should be spending every available moment here in the district listening to the people whom she represents. Unfortunately, we have seen time and time again that Bachmann is more interested in her own fame within the right wing of the right wing of the Republican Party than she is in actually being the representative of Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District.

In our last episode of Where in the World is Michele Bachmann, we found our favorite absentee representative showing love to an organization (Young America's Foundation) with ties to such notable right wingers as George "Macaca" Allen and super bigot, Anne Coulter.

This time around, Bachmann is foregoing constituent services within the district to attend and speak at an organization which has ponied up the dough for her during the last two election cycles. The collegiate wing of the ultra right wing organization known as Eagle Forum is having a summit and at 1pm on Thursday, July 10th, Michele Bachmann will be speaking.

What is Eagle Forum Collegians?

As per all conservative college organizations, they are out to spread the meme of the supposed liberal indoctrination on our college campuses:

EFC can be a strong voice for traditional values and conservative principles on YOUR campus. It starts with YOU!

  • Are you tired of student fees being used to promote liberal causes?

  • Are you concerned about the blatant advocacy of radical leftist ideas in your classroom?

  • Are you being pressured by the politically correct agenda on your campus?

The Collegian Summit she will be attending seeks to provide the tools to college students so that they too might continue the witch hunt on campuses across the country:

"inspire action against professors and policies with a Liberal Agenda"

One has to wonder what actions they will be promoting "against" these professors. Oh, the outrage that would be heard if a "liberal" organization were to hold a summit to "inspire action against" educators that have a decidedly conservative agenda. Michele Bachmann, who ignores the college students across her district, will be guaranteed a friendly crowd of conservative college students to validate her beliefs that the scary liberal professors lurking in the halls of universities across the country are bent on turning the United States into a Communist paradise.

Other notable attendees to this summit:
So, with nary an open forum to be found here in the 6th Congressional District involving Michele Bachmann, the people in Washington D.C. have now officially doubled the amount of face time with our representative when compared with the amount of face time we have had in the past two months.

During this summer campaign season, a season in which Michele Bachmann has yet to update her campaign website, Bachmann will be attending conferences at some of the nation's ultra conservative organizations. Rather than courting the votes of independents in the 6th District, she will be pandering to the far right wing of the Republican Party and not even here in her home district.

Some time this week, Representative Bachmann will be a speaker at the Young America's Foundation Leadership Conference. I sent an email to the organization to see if I could get some information about the date of her appearance and was told that this was a "private conference". So, rather than holding public appearances for her constituents, Bachmann is currently holding private meetings with folks in Washington DC that have no connection whatsoever to her district.

What is Young America's Foundation?

According to Sourcewatch, the foundation is "the principal outreach organization of the Conservative Movement". That sounds innocent enough until you learn that many of the conservative movements most controversial figures are regular guests of the organization. From George Allen of "Macaca" fame to the likes of Anne Coulter and Michele Malkin, Young America's Foundation is catering to the most fringe elements of the Republican Party and the "Conservative Movement".

So, the next time you hear Michele Bachmann claim she is fighting for the "people of Minnesota" you can be certain that those people she speaks of do not include moderate Republicans or independents and they certainly DO NOT include anyone who even remotely describes themselves as a Democrat. Her main concern, it seems, is gaining the attention of the ultra-conservative elites in Washington DC and elsewhere throughout the country.

With the onset of summer this year comes the onset of an election year campaign season the likes of which few will ever see. From our entire Minnesota House of Representatives to Congress to one of the most important Presidential Elections in recent memory, we are going to be inundated with politics throughout the summer. Locally, this will be in the form of candidate door knocking and parades across the district.

There is, however, one candidate in the area who appears to have missed the memo that this summer should be reserved for local politicking. Michele Bachmann, who has yet to hold a meeting open to the general public and who has yet to update her campaign website, has decided that rather than put her energies into winning the support of the people of the 6th Congressional District she will spend her time traveling to Washington D.C. and down to Texas in order to get her support. One has to wonder how the Republican Party feels about these trips given that on at least two of these occasions she will be attending with Ron Paul.

As these events come around (June 18-21, July 10-11, and July 24-26) you can stop by to learn more about the organization she is speaking at and wonder why in the world she isn't here in the 6th District trying to get our support.

So, for the summer I am creating a program titled, "Where in the world is Michele Bachmann?", and I encourage everyone to email me at political_muse@hotmail.com if you have information about the whereabouts of our absentee representation in Congress. Perhaps she will be in the district for a couple days this summer and we want to know about it but we would also be terribly interested in finding out how many other adventures she will be having outside of the district.
