Yesterday, Larry Schumacher reported on the FEC report of the Tinklenberg Campaign:

DFL 6th Congressional District candidate Elwyn Tinklenberg raised $272,000 from April 1-June 30, spent $149,000 and ended up with $225,000 cash on hand, according to a report filed with the Federal Elections Commission Monday.

I agree with Blue Man, these are decent numbers considering that in the first quarterly of the year Tinklenberg only raised half of this amount. Shumacher ends his piece wondering about the numbers of 6th District Representative, Michele Bachmann. Well, she hasn't filed her July quarterly numbers as of yet but she has filed two items today that raise questions about who is actually controlling Bachmann, her constituents or the national party and special interests.

First, a Statement of Organization that indicates that she is teaming up with the organization known as ROMP 2008 ("Regain Our Majority Program").

This committee is a Principal Campaign Committee.
Candidate: Michele Bachmann
Party: National
Office Sought: House of Representatives
State is Minnesota in District: 06

The second, A Statement of Candidacy that again names ROMP 2008 as a secondary campaign tool (or is it that Bachmann is a tool of this secondary committee).

DESIGNATION OF OTHER AUTHORIZED COMMITTEES

8. I hereby designate the following named committee, which is NOT my principal campaign committee, to receive and expend funds on behalf of my candidacy.

ROMP 2008
FEC ID #: C00448142

What does all of this mean? Is Bachmann done fundraising and turning over her district to ROMP 2008? Why is Bachmann late filing her totals? As always, with Michele Bachmann we have so many questions and so few answers...

ROMP 2008 held a fundraiser for her, Paulsen and a number of other Republicans in competitive races. From the looks of the ROMP 2008 report, the event didn't give money directly to the candidates, but paid for the event's expenses.

The attendees probably cut checks directly to the candidate committees.

    Paulsen filed the same documents.

From the looks of his report, the fundraiser took place in April (news reports mention an April fundraiser). The contributors tend to be other Republicans' leadership PACS and that sort of thing. But I'm no expert and these conclusions could be off.

Her own report should be forthcoming.
