Yesterday I put up some prediction polls for races here in Minnesota. These are obviously NOT scientific in any way but here are the results:

In the United States Senate race, 72% of respondents predict Al Franken will win.

In the 1st District, 82% of respondents predict Tim Walz will win. This one has been fairly obvious given the pathetic campaign waged by Brian Davis. As always, you can check out Bluestem Prairie for all of fabulous goings on of the 1st District and my favorite Congressman, Tim Walz.

In the 3rd District, 84% of respondents predict Ashwin Madia will win.

In the 6th District, 83% of respondents predict Elwyn Tinklenberg will win. If Bachmann is defeated, our long local nightmare will be over and we may have to think about changing the name of this blog!

If these predictions hold true, we will see a very blue delegation on its way to Congress in January and John Kline (sorry, Mr. Sarvi, but as much as I would like to see you win it isn't going to happen) will be a lonely soul! You can haggle over the validity of these results in the comments section.

Do you remember voting 8 years ago? As I remember, it was one of those cold, slushy wet kind of days and we went to vote close to sundown. I say "we" because instead of just two of us going to the polls, we drove the mother in law with us. Once we got into the poll, she asked who to vote for. I told her "Gore". She's hard of hearing, so I had to tell her again, only louder. Then she asked why. I told her "because in Minnesota we think before we vote." I am surprised I wasn't thrown out of the polling location, and did get some nasty looks from those in line.

But today is different, the sunshine on my thermometer is making it read 72 degrees, before 9:00am. This certainly has to be an omen. Hopefully, today will also be a day where the nation walks back into the sunshine, out from the cold wet shadows the last 8 years have been.
