ANOKA—Bob Olson, a DFL candidate in the 6th Congressional District, has received the endorsement of the Stonewall DFL caucus, which advocates on behalf of the GLBT community.

Olson, who has made fighting for progressive values the centerpiece of his campaign, said he was honored to receive Stonewall's support.

"Fairness should be the fundamental principle of our government," Olson said. "Whether it's fair taxes for working families, delivering an exit plan our troops have earned or granting equal rights to the GLBT community, I will always stand up for doing what's right—without regard to political consequences."

The 6th District is ready for a candidate who's true to his values, Olson said.

"Voters recognize a fake when they see one," he said. "I think people are far more likely to support someone they might occasionally disagree with than a candidate who will say or do anything to win an election. Folks want to believe in politics again and I'm committed to always being honest about where I stand."

In addition to Olson, Stonewall endorsed Reps. Keith Ellison and Betty McCollum and also gave "A" ratings to Al Franken, Mike Ciresi, Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer, Ashwin Madia and Terri Bonoff.

Olson is a tax attorney, the founder of the American Sustainable Energy Council and the owner of St. Stephen State Bank.

As Blue Man continues to find cracks in the armor of Tinklenberg (see here, here, and here), Bob Olson campaigns as the candidate not of the establishment. During the precinct caucuses, Bob Olson came and spoke with our group and brought up a relevant point in this particular race. Democrats need not concede their principles simply to take control of the 6th District. Amy Klobuchar clobbered local boy, Mark Kennedy, in nearly every single county within the district. In the counties Kennedy carried, he won by mere fractions of percentage points. Olson can bring out that same level of support if given a chance while Tinklenberg tries to pander to the social conservative crowd.
