Liberal in the Land of Conservative

Last summer I did a boo-boo and ended up on the county work crew for a few days and today was one of them.

At 8:00 this morning we went to the Dodd quarry in St. Cloud and our task was to clean up some sites where homeless people are living and have been for quite a while.

One of the sites had 5 people staying at it and they had been there for a long time judging by the look of things, 4 men and 1 woman. All of them were suffering from mental illness. Several were Vets.

The woman is 6 months pregnant.

Here in the Great State of Minnesota, in St. Cloud, in Sherburne County a mentally ill woman will give birth outdoors on a wet, filthy mattress in a mosquito and tick and vermin infested woods with only her homeless friends to help.

Today the heavy equipment came into Dodd quarry and removed the homeless living there. I helped throw tarps and trash into the bucket. Some of the trash was children’s toys.

I won’t sleep well tonight.
