Earlier this week we learned that conservative blogger, Leo Pusateri, was elected as secretary of the Senate District 15 Republican Party:

Dan Ochsner was elected to be the HD-15A vice-chair while Barbara Banaian, King’s wife, was elected to be the HD-15B vice-chair. Leo Pusateri is our new secretary. Darlene Thompson was re-elected to a third term as treasurer.

Today, Pusateri posted a piece on his blog regarding the expansion of Americorps. By the end of this post he was all but accusing Barack Obama of being a nazi. In fact, he even provided this wonderful image to enhance his "point".

So, is this supposed 250-person "civilian defense team" going to be Obama's "end-around" of the Posse Comitatus Act that will domestically achieve the 'One's' "security objectives" he has in mind?

As an elected and apparently respected member of the Senate District 15 Republican Party, are we to assume that the rest of the Republican leadership in SD-15 believe that Barack Obama is tantamount to a nazi? How about Republicans in SD-15, do they support the view that Obama is a nazi?

Furthermore, how can one possibly have an intelligent and productive dialogue across the aisle when the other side comes to the table believing you to be evil incarnate?

It is unfortunately all too common for people on both sides of the aisle to throw around these inflammatory terms to describe each other. It becomes even more unfortunate when those terms begin entering the rhetoric of even the people in leadership positions. These are the people who should be above the petty namecalling. Excellent work, SD-15 GOP!

Having armed civilians patrolling is a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act, which says that only police forces could act as a police force.

The bill also calls for “youth engagement zones” in which “service learning” is “a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency.” This updated form of voluntary community service is also to be “integrated into the science, technology, engineering and mathematics curricula” at all levels of schooling. Sounds like a government curriculum for government approved “service learning,” which is nothing less than indoctrination.

It sounds alot like indoctrination camps to me. No part talking about nazism. Just indoctrination.

Oh really, Gary. Perhaps you should ask Mr. Pusateri about the fabulous picture he added to his post then later removed. It is pretty clear from his comments that he is outright calling Obama a nazi. Excellent choice you have there to lead Senate District 15...

As for "the bill" you speak of I have not read it or studied it. So, if you could provide me with the link to the specific wording you are concerned about I would be happy to have this conversation with you.

Further, I don't think you understand what "service learning" really is. We use service learning activities within our school curriculum. Do you want to know what heinous activities those entail? It involves going to the local soup kitchen and serving dinner to poor people. It involves cleaning up in the community. I know you are trying to see the boogeyman at every turn but at some point you will realize that he really isn't there.

Every time I read something like this by or about Leo I become more concerned re. his status as a school psychologist.
