Elwyn Tinklenberg announced recently that he will NOT abide by the DFL endorsement in the 6th district. Tarryl Clark has yet to make any type of run official or even semi official. Has Tink already destroyed his chances at winning?

Seriously, who cares? Let him run.

Where's does he expect to get the money to run a primary against an endorsed candidate?
ANY candidate who challenges the endorsement in the 6th will likely have a LOT of trouble raising money.

What we need is a good, clean endorsement, and go on to beat Bachmann from there.

Tinklenberg has enough assets to push for no endorsement at the convention. With a $250,000 IOU out there from the DCCC, strong labor ties, and the experience in endorsement fights, I could see the 6th Convention being deadlocked to the extent that a no endorsement happens.

Could someone give an example of a DFL convention that did NOT endorse at the congressional or statewide level? I can't think of a single example - ever - but I'm willing to stand corrected if there was.

The point is, delegates come to conventions to endorse, not pass the buck. Since the objective here is to beat Bachmann, I would think that sentiment would be even greater.

Given the high calibre of the three candidates, a primary opponent would have a problem convincing potential contributers that they were really that much better than the person who got endorsed. I just don't see it happening.

I don't think he can garner the labor support he had last time and have heard that from some labor sources. As well, what we don't need is a blood bath between our DFL candidates; what we need is for those not endorsed to get out on the streets and campaign for the winner so that there might be a chance in hell that we can defeat Bachmann. It's going to take more boots on the ground and much for publicity than ever before.

So my answer is yes, he has seriously harmed his chance at winning.

He's lost this delegate's vote (assuming I get reelected delegate.)
